Important Update: Competition Deadlines Extended

Due to a high interest in STU International Architectural Competition from participants all over the world (we already have over 400 candidates registered) and our intent to make this competition open to as many qualified architects as possible, the Competition Organizing Committee has made a decision to extend our competition’s deadlines.

Deadline for registration – extended till Feb. 15th, 2025

Official launch of the “International Architectural Competition” to rebuild the STU Main Campus building

November 28, 2024, the administration of the State Tax University (STU) has officially announced about the launch of the International Architectural Competition to redesign the Main Campus building of the University, which was almost completely destroyed in March 2024, when the city of Irpin’ was partially occupied by russian military. At that time our city has become one of the key “battle grounds” in the “Batttle of Kyiv” – a legendary time when russian invasion has been heroically stopped by local militia later supported by the Armed For of Ukraine (AFU) and special forces operatives.

Competition organizers (STU administration and partners) invite participants from all over the world! Participation is completely free of charge and is open to all design bureaus, architectural firms and individual architects from every corner of the globe. We believe that opening this competition internationally will allow a truly multicultural exchange of ideas in the field of architecture and design.

The State Tax University, a higher education institution under the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, plays a key role in training specialists for the field of public finance. Over the years of its existence, the university has trained thousands of specialists, including statesmen, scientists, tax and customs service employees, lawyers, economists and other highly qualified specialists of public services. For over a hundred years, the university has been an educational and scientific calling card of the Hero City of Irpin, where the Central Building was the “heart” of the higher education institution, equipped with modern teaching facilities. It housed research institutes, postgraduate studies, a college, the administration, accounting, personnel department and other important structural units. However, this building was almost destroyed in the first days of the war. It is worth noting that the State Tax University suffered the greatest destruction among educational institutions in the Kyiv region.

The university team, together with partners, decided to launch an open competition for a modern concept for the best architectural solution for the design of the new Central Building of the university, destroyed in the first days of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022. The goal is to create a project for a university building of dreams: an innovative, progressive and comfortable place for learning, research and student leisure based on innovative educational standards. We invite architects, planners and designers from all over the world to join the charitable initiative, sharing their vision of a 21st century educational building that will inspire a new generation of public finance professionals. Participation is free and open to all design bureaus, architectural firms and individual architects.
