Competition Winner

After 4 months of the competition process the jury has finally chosen the
competition "Winner" - a design project called "Learning Beneath the
Trees"
submitted by the Canadian team of the global architecture firm
"Stantec".

"New face" of the university

"Learning Beneath The Trees" - this bold and modern design idea from "Stantec" will become the "new face" of our University - providing a new "gate" to the STU campus and offering a space that will facilitate collaboration, creativity, but also ensure inclusivity, sustainability and much more.

We see this new campus as a space not only for STU students, but also for the wider community of the city of Irpin, scientists, government officials and veterans all gathering and collaborating together.

Design project idea

Stantec embraced STUs institutional vision to become a regional and international hub for academic excellence. Their design approach is inspired by contemporary learning pedagogy. We both believe in the great power of education and believe learning has no regional boundaries.

Irpin, the City of Parks was a true inspiration when working on the project. Nature and landscape also bears witness, and we wanted to celebrate the resilience of landscape and the natural world. The design project reimagines STU's main entrance as a "Garden Gateway".

Few words from the "Winner"

“This prestigious opportunity resonated with our Canadian, European, and American design team members. With our hearts and minds, we embraced the call for a bold, forward-looking design vision - one that supports renewal and resilience while fostering hope for current and future generations. It is a privilege to contribute to a project that will heal, inspire, and imagine a brighter future through the power of education, community, and design.”

Dathe Wong, Design Director, Stantec Canada
